My name is David Cox and I am a fuel gas expert. I am a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (C.F.E.I.) who investigates fires and explosions to ascertain if gas was involved. Most of the time the gas is either propane or methane (natural gas). Sometimes it is butane, acetylene, or even sewer gas.
Usually this investigation is for an insurance company, a forensic engineering firm, or a law firm. Obviously, this type of origin and cause work involves a good working knowledge of every type of gas burning appliance. I have investigated incidents involving all of the appliances and equipment listed below, and more. And, of course, anyone who is engaged in this type of work gets a certain number of cases involving carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Not all of my activities as a consultant involve fire scene investigations. It is not at all unusual for me to be contacted by an insurance company or law firm several years after the incident. If you need help, it's never too late to ask.
